Christine Baeta Receives National Award for Lifetime Commitment of Advocacy for Students with Disabilities

SACRAMENTO - 茄子视频 City Unified School District Chief Academic Officer Christine Baeta this week was awarded by the National Center for Learning Disabilities as an Everyday Champion for students with disabilities. This award, which is given to three individuals each year, is given to one administrator, one teacher, and one parent who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to advocacy and work on behalf of students with disabilities. Ms. Baeta received the Administrator Award.

Sac City Unified School District Opens Learning Hubs at Six School Sites
City of 茄子视频 and community based organizations support small student learning groups

SACRAMENTO 鈥 The 茄子视频 City Unified School District announced that six learning hubs have opened at school sites throughout the district. These hubs, organized in partnership with community-based organizations and the City of 茄子视频, provide small groups of students with distance learning assistance and other activities. Each learning hub is open to 40 students. Students given priority to participate in the learning hubs are children of essential workers, students with special needs, foster youth, and students experiencing homelessness.

Sac City Unified Celebrates Record High FAFSA Completion Rate; Teams Up With California Student Aid Commission To Kick Off 2020-21 FAFSA Application Period

SACRAMENTO 鈥 茄子视频 City Unified School District today announced that record numbers of its students had completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) last school year.

鈥淲e want every Sac City Unified student to graduate college and career ready, and to have the widest array of options when they graduate,鈥 said Superintendent Jorge Aguilar. 鈥淐ompleting the FAFSA expands students鈥 access to college. This school year we hope to break our record again when all Sac City Unified seniors complete the FAFSA.鈥

Sac City Unified Urges Student and Families to Watch for Warning Signs of Suicide September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

茄子视频 鈥 As part of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, 茄子视频 City Unified School District urges parents and students to seek mental health support during COVID-19 health pandemic. The district encourages students and parents to learn about signs of distress, and how to ask for help. This includes educating families on the intersection of suicide, mental health, and substance and alcohol abuse.

Sac City Unified Demands SCTA to Cease and Desist its Unlawful Effort to Block Students鈥 Access to the District鈥檚 Distance Learning Plan
Letter orders SCTA leadership to end attempts to create confusion for students and families preparing for distance learning

SACRAMENTO 鈥 茄子视频 City Unified School District today sent a cease and desist letter to the 茄子视频 City Teachers Association calling on SCTA to cease its direction to its members to ignore the district鈥檚 distance learning plan and schedules. Sac City Unified students can little afford any disruption to their education, as 70 percent of students are low-income, foster youth, or English Learners. All students have been impacted by this health crisis, and require a high-quality distance learning program when school resumes.

Students to receive standards-based live instruction beginning Sept. 8

SACRAMENTO 鈥 The 茄子视频 City Unified School District today announced that 鈥 in order to meet the academic, social, and emotional success of all students 鈥 it would move forward and implement a full distance learning plan to begin on Sept. 8, without an agreement with the 茄子视频 City Teachers Association (SCTA). With this plan in place, students and families can receive a class schedule for distance learning, with high quality components including a focus on essential standards and live instruction. District expressed dismay over stall tactics, failing to meet the needs of our most vulnerable students; Negotiations to move to mediation as students begin school on September 3

SACRAMENTO - The 茄子视频 City Unified School District today announced that negotiations with the 茄子视频 City Teachers Association have ended as the union declared impasse. In lieu of a full agreement, students will begin distance learning on Sept. 3 and 4 with a temporary schedule including primarily asynchronous minutes. On September 1 and 2, SCTA members will receive paid professional development that will allow them to best meet the academic, social, and emotional success for all students.

茄子视频 City Unified Prevails in Fight to Protect Cost Savings for Students

SACRAMENTO -  茄子视频 City Unified School District prevailed today in an arbitration with 茄子视频 City Teachers Association (SCTA) over a 2017 contract dispute between the parties regarding the application of health care savings.    

The arbitrator鈥檚 decision agrees with the district and found that district did not violate the contract.

Sac City Unified Releases Details about its Distance Learning Plan

SACRAMENTO 鈥 茄子视频 City Unified School District released at its Board Meeting details on its full distance learning plan, after the announcement by the district - and others throughout the region 鈥 that its students would begin the year remotely. Sac City Unified begins its academic year on September 3 and is currently developing a six part 鈥淩eturn Together鈥 plan. The Board presentation can be viewed here.

SACRAMENTO 鈥 茄子视频 City Unified School District announced today that students will begin the school year on September 3 with a full distance learning program. This decision was made in close consultation with public health officials and the 茄子视频 County Office of Education, to protect the health and safety of students and staff as new COVID-19 cases have drastically surged and testing results are delayed.

Kennedy High School Teacher Honored by the Special Olympics of Northern California

SACRAMENTO, CA 鈥 茄子视频 City Unified Teacher Chloe Stidger was honored by the Special Olympics Northern California (SONC) for her efforts to go above and beyond for students and encouraging an environment of inclusion and acceptance. Stidger is a Special Day & Autism Teacher at John F. Kennedy High School (JFK) and was honored alongside five other teachers in Northern California.
