Sac City Unified to Continue Providing Kids Free Meals During Summer
Serving breakfast and lunch to anyone 18 or younger at 13 sites

SACRAMENTO - Cafeterias may be closed this summer, but children and teens can still get nutritious breakfasts and lunches at no charge throughout the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District beginning June 15.

Sac City Unified has served nearly two million meals since the beginning of the COVID-19 closure. ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ two-third of SCUSD’s 40,000 students qualify for a free- or reduced-price meal through the federal school lunch program.

Sac City Unified Developing Plan for Safe Reopening of Schools after COVID-19

Sac City Unified Announces New Grading Policy Encouraging Success, Not Stress

SACRAMENTO - ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District today announced a new grading policy that will encourage success not stress for its students engaging with distance learning. The district – like many districts throughout the state – recognized that it must strike a balance between keeping students engaged while also addressing inequity and that may be exacerbated by distance learning and that many families are facing additional challenges during the COVID-19 crisis.

Sac City Unified, City of ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ, and Comcast Team Up to Provide Free Internet to Qualifying SCUSD Families

SACRAMENTO, CA — ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District, the City of ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ, and Comcast today announced a new effort to provide Sac City Unified families with free internet access. The new initiative, called Sac City Kids Connect, provides Comcast’s Internet Essentials program to qualifying low income families with internet access, provided they live in a Comcast service area.

Sac City Unified Implements Engagement and Outreach Program to Keep Students from Falling Through the Cracks During Distance Learning
District continues to work to meet students’ academic, social and emotional needs during school closure

SACRAMENTO, CA - ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District announced today a program to collect and track student engagement data as part of its distance learning plan. The district’s program involves a survey and extensive outreach to track students who have been unaccounted for or disengaged during its distance learning plan and to use that information to make contact with those students to check on their academic, social and emotional needs.

Sac City Unified Announces Extension of School Closure Through June 11
District plans to begin distance learning by April 13

SACRAMENTO, CA — The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District today announced an extension of its school closure through its academic year ending on June 11, 2020. The announcement was made as part of the district’s efforts to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The district made the decision after consultation with the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ County Office of Education (SCOE) and with full support of ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ County Public Health.

Sac City Unified Begins Teacher Training for Distance Learning, Secures 20,000 Chromebooks for Students

SACRAMENTO, CA â€” The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District has announced it has begun a teacher training program to implement distance learning for students during the COVID-19 closure. The district proposes to begin the formal distance learning plan by April 13. The training is offered online and was first posted on March 30. The district also placed an order last week for 20,000 Chromebooks to provide to students for distance learning.
