Sutterville Elementary School will hold its Seventh Annual History Day Gallery Walk – part of the highly regarded National History Day academic competition — on Wednesday, February 23, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The school is located at 4967 Monterey Way, Ƶ.

Gallery Walk is an opportunity for the more than 100 participating students to showcase projects on the theme of “Debate & Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences” as practice for the Ƶ County History Day Competition at Rosemont High School on Saturday, March 12.

National History Day (NHD) is an academic program for elementary and secondary school students. It makes history come alive for America’s youth by engaging them in the discovery of the historic, cultural and social experiences of the past.

Every year National History Day frames students’ research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national or state history and is relevant to ancient history or to the more recent past. This year’s theme, “Debate & Diplomacy: Successes, Failures, Consequences,” provides an opportunity for students to develop multiple perspectives and understanding of historical content.
