SCUSD to celebrate Green Apple Day of Service with campus clean ups
‘Where we learn matters’ is slogan for international event
September 20, 2012 (ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ): Schools in ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District are participating in the first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, an international event sponsored by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.
The first Green Apple Day project gets underway this Saturday (September 22) at West Campus High School. Hundreds of volunteers from Starbucks, Rebuilding Together, State of Being and the West Campus community will work to revitalize the grounds surrounding two classroom wings.Plans called for decomposed granite walkways, raised planters boxes and new sod.
Other projects and project dates are listed below. Green Apple Day is being coordinated locally by Farah McDill, a 2011 Center for Green Schools Fellow. SCUSD is the only school district on the West Coast to be awarded a full-time Green Schools Fellow funded by the U.S. Green Building Council.
