Kennedy marching band to surprise classmate recovering from hit-and-run bike crash
Taariq Jensen has yet to start senior year due to his injuries

Press release

November 6, 2015 (ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ):  All 130 members of John F. Kennedy High School’s marching band will assemble in a Pocket neighborhood cul-de-sac Saturday afternoon to perform for classmate Taariq Jensen, who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run bike crash last summer.

Jensen was one of three cyclists struck by a man driving a stolen car on June 30 along South River Road between Clarksburg and West ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ. He was transported to Kaiser South ICU where he remained until late July. He has not yet returned to school for his senior year and is continuing his education through the district’s medical independent study program. The driver who struck Jensen has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and driving under the influence of drugs.

Because Jensen was unable to attend Kennedy’s homecoming rally, game and dance, his friends in the marching band decided to bring school spirit to his house, said parent Ken Adams, who is coordinating Saturday’s event with band teacher Jeremy Hammond.

After playing for Jensen, the band will travel on to Folsom for a competition.
