Staying sharp: Barbers pledge 300 free haircuts to kids who read to them this summer

July 5, 2016 (ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ): To help kids stay sharp this summer, ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ barbers are partnering with SCUSD and ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Public Library on a literacy drive that rewards students for reading.
Ten barbershops have agreed to give away 30 free haircuts this summer to students who read a book to a barber. ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Public Library is supplying 300 books for the initiative.

July 14, 2016 (ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ): ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District will launch its One Book One ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ summer literacy book giveaway with a rousing read-in and sing-along at the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Zoo on Monday morning.
Ribbon-Cutting and Empathy Reading Program Demonstration at Golden Empire Elementary School
ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ, CA (October 5, 2016) – RedRover, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ, California, will join IKEA at Golden Empire Elementary School on Tuesday, October 11 at 10:30 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District school’s newly transformed classroom space. This classroom, as well as the staff lounge, was remodeled as part of IKEA’s Life Improvement Challenge.
SCUSD Board approves Downtown Railyards agreement
November 4, 2016 (ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ): ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s Board of Education voted Thursday to approve a school facilities agreement with developers of The Railyards Project north of downtown.
