‘Priority Schools’ students make big gains on state test

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ: State test score data released today suggests that ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s bold initiative to turn around low-performing schools is working.

Students in the Superintendent’s Priority Schools made nearly across-the-board gains in math and English on the California Standards Tests (CSTs) administered last spring, validating a host of reforms
implemented at those campuses last year.

SCUSD Superintendent Jonathan Raymond will reveal the results of the
district’s aggressive initiative to turnaround low-performing schools during Wednesday’s press conference with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.

The press conference will be at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, in the library of Oak Ridge Elementary School, 4501 Martin Luther King Blvd.

Adult Education opens doors and delivers success! It provides lifelong educational opportunities and services preparing adult students with the knowledge and skills necessary to participate effectively as citizens, workers, parents, and family members. Adult Education has been part of the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District’s public education program since 1872. Classes are held in a variety of school and community locations throughout ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ.

Bond Oversight Committee Measure E

To renovate, replace, acquire and construct school buildings, provide wiring for computers, meet fire/health/safety standards; provide needed heating/air conditioning improvements and construct a high school to alleviate overcrowding, shall the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ City Unified School District issue $195,000,000 in bonds at the lowest interest rates possible and appoint a citizens’ oversight committee and an independent auditor to assure that funds are spent only on school and classroom improvements and for no other purposes.
